Staff of the Geology Department are members of the Members of the Geoscience Research Center, which falls under the Advance Fundamental Research Cluster. Members of the Geoscience Research Center, headed by Prof. Dr. Azman A. Ghani, are actively involved in research in all aspects of geosciences as well as the promotion and advancement of geosciences in Malaysia and the South-East Asia countries through cooperation and linkages with various local and international organizations. They have played important and pioneering roles in organizing activities that are beneficial to the nation and region, such as organizing conferences, training courses and field work.
The Research Center has established cooperation in research with geoscientists, universities and research laboratories from various countries in fields of common interest. The Research Center also has good rapport with agencies in the public and private sector in activities related to research and consultancy.
