FOSSILS
The remains of plants or animals that are preserved in rocks are known as fossils. Most often only the hard parts such as bones, shells of animals and the leaves and woody parts of plants are preserved. Fossils are usually found in sedimentary rocks especially in limestones and shales.
Some examples
