ECONOMIC MINERALS
Economic minerals are minerals that can be extracted from the ground and are of economic value. Economic minerals can be divided into several groups.
- Metallic ore minerals such as cassiterite, stibnite, gold, hematite, galena, bauxite, etc.
- Industrial minerals such as barite, kaolin, sulphur, quartz (silica sand), etc.
- Gems and semi-precious stones such as ruby, amethyst, tourmaline, diamond, etc.
The most important economic minerals in Malaysia are tin, gold, petroleum, copper, aluminium, coal, columbite, manganese, nickel, chromium and silver.
