MSc and PhD Program by Research
In addition to undergraduate teaching the Department has an excellent programme of research training leading to a Master of Science (M.Sc) or a Doctor of Philisophy (Ph.D) Degree.

PhD Programme
This programme provides a comprehensive training in research on specific subject areas through exploration and experimentation. One or more supervisors are assigned to the student whose role is to assist the student to define the research topic and to provide guidance in the development of the research project. On completion of the research the candidate is required to submit a thesis on his/her research findings for examination.
Period of Candidate : - 4 semesters

16 semesters (maximum)
For admission to the PHD programme the candidate must possess a Masters degree from the University of Malaya or its equivalent as recognised by the University of Malaya Senate.
